Hostname resolution not always working

I am trying to resolve the hostname of my device called redqueen from my laptop. It works fine from the command line using dig and host. Both the short hostname and FQDN resolve properly to the IP address, but when I try to resolve them in the browser it says DNS resolution failed.

I've sporadically noticed this issue on other computers as well, mostly related to trying to open a website from a local network device in the browser but in other programs as well.
