Is it possible to bypass the output of E4L Master Bus and using AIIRA Decoder's output directly?

Hi!

Hope you are doing well. I have a 60 speakers setup and I hope to figure out a way to utilize all the speakers while still using E4L in Ableton. Since the E4L only supports 32 outputs, I was wondering is there a way to use the output of AIIRA decoder directly as the custom decoder (cuz it supports more output channel)? I was following the instruction you had for building a custom decoder, then I realized that I still need to rely on the output channel of E4L Master bus and the custom decoder just gives more information of the location of each output channel, if I understand it correctly. Here I attached the screenshot of the maxpat file. Please let me know if it's something I can solve through Max or is there any other better solution? Thank you so much.

If you want to use this many outputs there are two options. First option is to use the AmbiX decoder and route the 16 channels of Ambisonics to another audio application where you can run the AllRADecoder with 60+ outputs.

Alternately, if you are comfortable with Max programming, you could make yourself a modified version of the E4L Master Bus which supports more outputs.

I've attached a screenshot below of the E4L Master Bus patch indicating the main things that you would have to modify in order to achieve this. It's not too invasive of a change.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I tried to follow the instruction to modify the E4L master bus in Max. However, even if I loaded the patch for 64 outputs, every time when I opened it, it assumes it's still have the 32 outputs as the binaural mode. In Ableton, if I change the output for 31-64, it changes them all together, and not allow me to specify which outputs I want. Did I miss anything here? Should I change the reset master bus, decoder, etc? Please let me know! Really appreciate your help!

Looks very close.

First, delete the decoder selector, this will only create confusion, since we want your custom decoder always loaded.

The other thing you'll need to do when adding outputs 32-64 is set the patcher arguments on the duplicated output selectors properly. The existing selectors for outputs 1-32 have arguments from 1 to 16, and your new copies for outputs 33-64 will have arguments from 17 to 32.

I'm guessing you just copy/pasted the existing ones, which is why they're "cloning" the same settings for channels 1-32.
