DesktopConnect plugin and gapless playback

I've noticed that when using DesktopConnect, the playback is not gapless (you can check any album that doesn't have silence between tracks, like Catch33 from Meshuggah). Am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation of the plugin?

It's a limitation of Tidals implementation as the queue is managed on the controlling device not on the player.

I think there might be a way to try and get it more seamless but I'd need to check if there's a preload event or not.

I also encountered a few other issues:

• Sometimes, in order to control the TidaLuna client on my PC from my Android phone, I have to play something in the PC client first; otherwise, the Android Tidal app will not be able to connect, even though it can see it in the menu as a playback device (TidaLuna: PC_Hostname).

• Sometimes, when I'm playing a playlist on the PC client and later decide to control it from the phone, between songs sometimes it randomly plays a small fragment of the start of a random song from the playlist I was playing**. I think this could be related to the "gapless" issue**.

• When I pause playback from the Android phone, it randomly restarts the last song that was playing from the beginning when the phone screen goes black (either by timeout or by locking the phone). It doesn't restart playback immediately but rather at random; usually around a minute or more later. As long as I keep the screen active, it stays paused.

Bear in mind that I'm using TidaLuna on a laptop connected through WiFi. I don't know if the WiFi could be a factor in some of these issues. In a few days, when I get back home, I will try it on my desktop computer.

This is all probably related to know Tidal remote control works. Since all the plugin does is hijack the unreleased feature that Tidal made.

I'm not sure if there's much I can do to fix a lot of these.

But the gapless thing I can look into.

I tried force closing tidal app on the phone while I paused and the tidal client on my pc never unpaused, so it's clearly an issue on the phone side. If I find a solution, I will report back. But I guess, for the time being, a decent workaround would be to change the audio source from TidaLuna to the phone after pausing, so that the phone cannot communicate to TidaLuna.

Just to elaborate a bit more on this issue, a friend of mine who has an LG TV compatible with Tidal Connect has tried pausing playback and locking his smartphone and the playback doesn't unpause randomly; it stays paused. But when he uses TidalLuna with Desktop Connect it has the same issue I described before: the playback unpauses automatically. But in his case it happens immediately after locking the phone. Even when he leaves the app in the background. He is using an iPhone 15 (I'm on android).

I've also realised that since I installed TidaLuna, sometimes when I open the PC client, it starts playing the last track that was playing before I opened it. I don't know if this might be related.

Could be a combination of RealMAX bugginess and how Desktop Connect is implemented.

I think I've experienced this as well. When playing an album, it sounds like it basically restarts the song after playing for a half second or so. The odd thing is if I scrub to the end of a song and let it play through to the next, it doesn't do it, it only happens when it plays the entire song.
