Setting filter item for create peripherals

I was wondering if it's possible to add setFilterItem method for create peripherals, for now just for Basin.
The unlimited peripherals has it I believe, and I wanted this mod to also have it, as of now this is the only friction point for me to explore this mod.
Never did minecraft modding, but I would love to contribute and add it myself if it's possible, gonna take a bit of time to figure out the structure of the mod, and how to add it.
If it's not possible due to some api issues please let me know.
