Playing sounds starts subtitles, wich are rendered in the render thread. The Mod is playing a sound directly from the network thread. Two threads mean they can both try to access the list at the same time (and fail catastrophically) unless there's some sync somewhere I don't know about. So the mod is trying to play a sound without making sure it's in a place it can, So it (unwillingly) adds the subtitle while the renderer is also trying to modify it.

Possible solution: Synchronize with the game's thread to add it (there's a method somewhere quite sure) or just play the sound from the server and let the game handle it.
