How does the model recognize the unknown object?

As the paper say:"greater the distance between fθ(x) a n d Pk, the greater the probability that x will be assigned with label k".But I don't see where introduce the condition of recognizing the object as unknown in the paper. Can you tell me?Maybe I missed something.Thank you!
