I would be surprised to find out that that many people are hosting just the excalidraw frontend for personal use, perhaps if someone is using it for really sensitive stuffs and don't want it leaving their network (seems extreme), what makes more sense to my mind is plugging a persistance layer to it and have a self hosted library of excalidraw boards instead of doing the excalidraw+ subscription, open source is always better!
