Description
As the title summarily explains, maybe it would be a good idea, if possible, to add both a .sporemod and a .package version of this mod.
This would be done to allow installs to be modded:
- Without the need of the third-party software Spore ModAPI beyond mod compatibility checks (unless there's a better reason to use .sporemod instead of .package I am missing, it could be totally possible).
- Without needing the Spore Origin/original DVD version for ModAPI to work in optimal conditions (something increasingly difficult after Origin was discontinued and replaced by a new app that messes up Spore Installs and potentially mods as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyFlXNPt-Xc).
- Without needing to use the 1.05.001 Base Spore + Spore Galactic Adventures 1.01.001 for it (ModAPI requirements), only needing Base Spore 1.04+ and Spore Galactic Adventures 1.00.000, which can support .package mods just fine.
While the 1.05 version of spore added some bonuses (like adding to the editors a way of easily call asymmetry, or allowing a safe way to climb over vehicles), it also added a few problematic or controversial updates that may make people want to keep an older install. Amongst them are:
- 1.05.001 added a drawback to some galactic adventure missions as a consequence of safe vehicle climbing, making those parts where a vehicle needed to purposefully kill an object via ramming at high speeds - f.ex. a Thor's hammer vehicle - not completable anymore.
- On the creature editor, free-floating parts are no longer possible without the aid of a mod, which reduces creation compatibility.
- Certain commands on the game's console may cause a crash, like setconsequencetrait.
- Space Stage events are easier and less frequent.
You can of course keep two separate installs if necessary (particularly useful since some adventures require of you to stand upon a vehicle, while others require of a vehicle to ram to deal damage), and as long as both installs can keep the same mods, you can share its saves and no issues arise (in fact while Base Spore 1.04 and Spore Galactic Adventures 1.00.000 do not allow you to create asymmetric parts with A, creatures with that kind of asymmetry are totally supported and can be edited in older installs). But due to ModAPI requirements, this trick would not be possible.
