Not able to run this module on its own

I followed the installation instruction but I believe the CmakeLists file is not complete on its own. cmake_minimum_required as well as package configuration for ASIO and TurboJPEG are missing. After manually solving the above problem the built xcodeproj failed to run because many files could not be found (exist under oi.native). I would very appreciate if you would have time to have a look at the installation procedure because I am currently doing my thesis under HMI and would like to use some components of OpenIMPRESS.

Oh, sorry you're having difficulties!

I should really update the instructions for all these modules. My recommended way of getting everything to work is to start from oi.native:

git clone https://github.com/OpenIMPRESS/oi.native.git
cd oi.native
git checkout oiioWIP # you might need to pull this branch first
git submodule update --init --recursive  

The last command should fetch all the modules, including oi.client.rgbd.libfreenect2.

Before building the oi.native project, build libfreenect2, which is a dependency for oi.client.rgbd.libfreenect2

cd dependencies
git clone https://github.com/OpenKinect/libfreenect2.git
cd libfreenect2
mkdir build
cd build
cmake -G "Visual Studio 15 2017 Win64" .. # Replace with your IDE

Building libfreenect2 might fail since it has it's own dependencies, but looks like you had that solved already.
Once you have successfully built libfreenect, cd back into the oi.native root folder, then...

mkdir build
cd build
cmake -G "Visual Studio 15 2017 Win64" .. -Dfreenect2_DIR=C:\Users\jankolkmeier\dev\oi.native\dependencies\libfreenect2\build -DOpenCV_DIR=C:\opencv\build # Replace with your IDE and paths to the dependencies

As you see, OpenCV also is a dependency for oi.native, but any recent 4.x binary release should work fine (last I used was 4.2).

This should give you a working xcode project to hack on that can also build oi.client.rgbd.libfreenect2
Let me know if you have any other issues, and feel free to note down any additional steps you're taking so we can put this on the README.md :)

Hi, sorry it's a bit late. I've tried the above solution and it could be built smoothly without any extra steps. I am using a macOS so I replaced the IDE as Xcode however I ran into semantic issue of std::reinterpret_pointer_cast that it's not in namespace std.
I've tried to change the project c++ dialect and library setting and manually implement reinterpret_pointer_cast using template but could not solve the problem.

Also in https://github.com/OpenIMPRESS/oi.native/blob/f3a5e80d3feeccf5720e7cf17520f83a9acf111c/oi.core/include/OIIO.hpp#L149 there is an error given by DataObject

Again, sorry you're still having difficulties. I might have some time this weekend to try and compile the code on a macbook. Meanwhile, looks like std::reinterpret_pointer_cast is only available in newev versions of the standard: https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/memory/shared_ptr/pointer_cast .

You could try changing this line https://github.com/OpenIMPRESS/oi.native/blob/master/CMakeLists.txt#L6 to use a higher version (17 or 20), and then rebuild the project (you'll need a somewhat recent version of cmake, https://cmake.org/cmake/help/latest/prop_tgt/CXX_STANDARD.html#prop_tgt:CXX_STANDARD )
