A vision for pattern recognition and machine learning applied to markes, initials and signatures at scale

• Our proposal for a five day Data Study Group, developed with the Alan Turing Institute proposal

• Modifications made to the proposal at a scoping session at the Alan Turing Institute on April 27th, 2018

• Alternative approach of running a Kaggle research competition for Proof of Concept, followed by partnership with a vision or image oriented computational laboratory

Discussion of issues related to the proposal

• Generation of training data sets
• Generation of control data sets
• Constrained vs. unconstrained machine learning
