Only keyword (TODO, FIXME, etc.) is highlighted

For single-line comments, is the entire line supposed to be highlighted? Currently this is the result:

I see the issue. So if you would like to override the Important tag and change the icon_emoji you should rather have this

Default tags are really to provide user defaults, and then a user can override them with the tags setting key. Which is what you want. But keys will overwrite all the settings.

The reason it causes the behavior you are seeing is likely a left over artifact.

I do see that I can perform better error handling and better setting merges. I will mark this as a enhacement

I just deleted the custom settings for IMPORTANT leaving only the below, but it is still exhibiting the exact same result:
