Temperature and Tint on ARP when using Camera settings

Hi 👋
I was wondering if there’s a specific reason why, when a RAW image is processed with the Neutral profile via the CLI, the ARP ends up with the default temperature and tint values. Would it make sense to write the computed values instead?

In my case, I opened a RAW file in the GUI and set the Neutral profile. When switching to Camera, it correctly sets the computed values. However, when preprocessing with the CLI using -O, the output sidecar still contains the default values.

Do you think it would make sense to write the computed values in this case as well? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance, appreciate the help 🙌

Hi, can you elaborate on the problem? Are the values affecting the output when processing with ART-cli, or is it just that the values in the arp are wrong but the result is still correct? If the output is wrong, can you maybe provide more detailed instructions to reproduce?

@agriggio I'm not sure if it is an issue, just a question of why on a choice. The question is specifically for the sidecar generated when, for example, converting an image with the cli:

ART-cli -Y -t -s -O image.tif -c image.cr3

The image converted will use the default camera parameters for temperature and tint but the ones written to the sidecar generated, even if ignored, are the default 6504K for temperature and 1 for tint. Is there a reason for this? or why not write the values that were computed from the camera.

There's no particular reason. You should simply consider those values not meaningful when the method is set to "Camera" or "Auto". In any case, the temperature/tint values make sense only inside ART, they won't translate to another app, as different programs use different formulas to calculate the temperature from the wb coefficients.
