How to tunnel through a proxy

Scanned through documentation and didn't find any proxy option. It seems that the maintainers have not implemented a proxy tunneling option yet. There are many cases which the end user is behind some proxy or there is some kind of censorship in place. IMO, having a proxy option is a must have for any network related library.
