UBI governance and automation #133

This is an idea that's been swimming around in my head for quite some time: UBI automation. Instead of having people vote on what the UBI should be, instead pick a wide selection of participants in these four industries:

  • Food
  • Housing
  • Healthcare
  • Education

For each industry, do a 1 year moving average of consumer costs, then sum these averages all together. What you get is the average cost of basic necessities. Now, you can have people decide on a UBI multiplier for that value, 0 <= m <= 2 such that the final UBI amount (yearly) is:

m * (mavg(food) + mavg(housing) + mavg(healthcare) + mavg(education))

The governable factors here being m and which blocs are selected for the various industries. This system acts as a guide for the UBI value as opposed to people setting an arbitrary value.
