Does idea of using git submodule and diff file sounds reasonable to you?

sounds like a good plan - anything to get us trailing master more easily so we don't fall out of line

might be worth thinking about https://github.com/golang/go/wiki/PortingPolicy again - I believe most of the changes can be done w/build tags -- it's just the testing part that would disqualify cause of the hypervisor screen-scraping system mechanics
