Is it possible to have an option to hide removed values from newString?

For example, instead of showing removed items in a salmon color, I'd simply like them removed. 

I tried editing the CSS code to change visibility of removed parts, but then the string is filled with empty spaces where there should be salmon-colored highlighted text.
