LaTeX not rendering in function reference

All the formulae in the function references (typeset in LaTeX) are not rendering. I've confirmed in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. Attached is an example for interval_score.

This should be fixed in pkgdown 2.1.2 so hopefully will resolve when the site is next built.

note that will only fix the dev site I think so we may need a minor release to fully get this gone

The default will still be mathml so we should switch to mathjax. I can confirm it works in epichains in this PR epiverse-trace/epichains#306

Because mathml will continue to fail? In that case why not katex which is recommended?

Yes, mathml seems not to handle LaTeX well. From the comments, it seemed katex is much heavier than mathjax.

Locally for me the mathml is fixed in version 2.1.2 -- perhaps we could try that in the first instance? I think there's some benefit to using the recommended default.

Realising that the dev page has been created with mathml and the dev version of pkgdown -- I get correct rendering on https://epiforecasts.io/scoringutils/dev/articles/scoring-rules.html but not on https://epiforecasts.io/scoringutils/dev/reference/interval_score.html

Is that what others see?

Relevant issue is r-lib/pkgdown#2704. Seems like it may be possible to get mathml working with pandoc but they've closed the issue (I'm guessing on the assumption people can use MathJax/katex). If you've the energy to dig and confirm details it may be worth opening a specific issue as it does seem like mathml could possibly work.
