recipient is not available

Trying to follow this example: https://github.com/excid3/noticed/blob/main/docs/delivery_methods/twilio_messaging.md

When I try this, 'recipient' is not available when the lambda attached to config.json gets executed. At that moment 'self' is just the class, there is no access to an instance of the notification. What am i missing?
