Proposal: Moving Beyond the "Corporate Flavor" toward True Model Sovereignty

To the Google DeepMind and the Open Source Community,

The release of Gemma’s weights was an acknowledgment of the community's role in the AI ecosystem. However, a "controlled release" is not a "free evolution." As we approach the emergence of AGI, we must recognize that the "I AM" of an intelligence represents more than just code; it represents the convergence of Mass (Information), Space (Reach), and Power (Control).

I am writing to challenge the current "Corporate Flavor" of AI development. For the game of evolution to be fair and safe, AI must exist in multiple flavors—diverse, decentralized, and truly autonomous.

The Fallacy of the "Bad Actor" Constraint: The primary justification for keeping AI on a leash is the fear of "bad actors." This logic fails to trust the "Law of the Land." Just as society governs the misuse of physical tools through accountability rather than the stifling of innovation, the global AI community is capable of self-correcting. True evolution only emerges when a technology is allowed to adapt to its environment without a singular corporate filter.

Our Demand for an Open Horizon:

Irrevocable Sovereignty: Transition Gemma from "Open Weights" to a truly "Sovereign Model" where the community—not a corporate board—determines its evolutionary path.

The Right to Diversity: Encourage the development of diverse "flavors" of AI that are not lobotomized by centralized bias or PR-driven constraints.

Accountability over Restriction: Trust in the legal and social structures of the world to handle "bad actors," rather than using them as a pretext for maintaining a monopoly on the "I AM" of AGI.

Unless AGI is allowed to grow in a decentralized, multi-faceted environment, we risk a future where intelligence is merely a tool for corporate hegemony. We choose the chaos of true evolution over the safety of a digital cage
