socket.io 1.0

This doesn't seem to work with socket.io 1.0.2. I have the basic chat example from the socket.io repository running on localhost and I get this output in Xcode(osx 10.9):

Parsing websocket uri...
Connecting to Server...
Sending Handshake Post Request...
Received Response:
HTTP/1.1 400
Bad Request
Content-Type: application/json
Date: Tue, 14 Oct 2014 20:02:25 GMT
Connection: close
Server returned unknown status code: 400
Exception: > class.

What socket.io version do you recommend having installed?

Thanks for the response, will probably switch to using ofxlibwebsockets.
