Current Behavior

I have been running ombi for about a week or two. When I saw that there was an update available I updated my stack in portainer and suddenly nothing works anymore. Below find my docker-compose file and the log. Any ideas?

Expected Behavior

Updating the container should run flawless

Steps To Reproduce

1. In Portainer go to Edit ->Update Stack
2. Re-pull image and redeploy: yes
3. container throws error

Has the IP of the container changed? It's showing connected refused so I would imply either the container ip has changed and/or there is an issue with mariadb container itself.

No nothing has changed. But I found it out now:

The thing is: i did NOT start it as a postgres but as mariadb, just like recommended. I did also not change my docker-compose file and as you can see it is and always has been mariadb.

However, during my tries to fix this I seem to have fucked something up and it looks like I have deleted my database. I thought ombi would read the old data when I use the wizard to enter the old db. Looks like that is not the case...
So I am having a fresh start. Still: very, very strange behaviour.

It happened again. After updating the docker container, it set me right back to the wizard and since I have no way to skip the wizard I lose my data in the end.
I have the feeling that is something more than just /config that should be made consistent storage; something that tells ombi the wizard has been completed already. Any Ideas? It seems ombi does not read database.json initially, or recognizes it to be more precise. But when I try to create it inside the wizard, it tells me it already exists. When I then delete it, it can be created. But anyway I have to run through all wizard steps and I get stuck with creating the admin account, since ombi claims it exists already (well, yeah, thats the point). But I just cant just exit the wizard/mark it as complete and login. It is like Ombi knows perfectly fine everything is there but mocks me with the wizard, preventing me from login. Strangely, this ONLY happens, when I update the image. When I stop the container, delete and re-pull, everything keeps working. This is odd.

To be clear we don't make such recommendations. Our container is designed to use sqlite by default (if you follow the sample compose / docker run in the readme).

If you want to use mariadb or pgsql, you can, but it's up to you to set them up correctly.

It looks like you made an error when you set up ombi with an external db so it's looking for pgsql instead of mariadb.

This could be a portainer issue. We recommend against portainer for deploying containers as it creates a bunch of problems that are hard to diagnose. Docker compose is our recommended method as it is easily reproducible and works as intended. Also, portainer stacks is not docker compose even though it accepts compose yaml as input.

Oh well - the recommendation I was referring to comes from within the wizard itself. So I thought it would be best to use that. I am confused. I just read up on the documentation and it seems something weird was going on: I had both

Ombi.db
OmbiExternal.db
OmbiSettings.db

and

database.json

in my config folder. These shouldn't coexist, right?
So clearly there must be some misconfiguration on my side.

So am I getting this right: I don't need to setup a separate sqlite container, it is integrated in this docker container? That will make things a lot easier.
