configurable suggestion/completion delay

Something that drives me mad with the current api-designer: the moment I type something where api-designer wants to provide a completion, it does so immediately without waiting for any reasonable delay before popping up its list of suggestions, invariably leading to the insertion of all sorts of junk as I am typing which I constantly have to delete/undo. This behavior slows me down and is a constant source of frustration. Can we please have a configurable delay that api-designer will wait before popping up its list of suggestions? Or perhaps it can be configured to never provide suggestions until a key command is pressed? This is a very common feature in most editors/IDEs.

Can you describe a little bit more what you are doing when you see that behaviour, please? Let's make sure we understood 100% what you pain is about.
