files not showing under recently closed

some files i have opened do not appear under the recently closed option of the new page +

this happens when using the navigation menu over any opened file. when selecting a file from the navigation pane it replaces the file i was looking at while browsing the directories with the file i selected, not good, and there is no record of that file being closed under the recently closed option

care has to be taken to open a new page and make sure the focus is on that page before opening any other page or else you have to go searching for where you left off to retrieve that closed file.

can i suggest every page selected is opened in its own tab if it is not already open or would it be possible to list that file closed by the system in the recently close option?
