Have some updates coming in a 2.0 release that may or may not resolve this, perhaps you could see if changes went far enough.

Leaving out a server-side need was actually 3-fold. I did integrate with moment-timezone.js but probably not along the same lines you were thinking: I did not use their provided data-included releases as I still think more valuable data can come from data generated live on the server, whereas with moment you have a choice between a huge amount of data or just 2012-2022 or something. Which is still huge. Timezone info is tiny and - if generated on the server properly - respects DST without having to have large data going forward that could always need updating with new legislation etc.

So.... I did put in an experimental and tiny data file, but already know it is problematic as I have an argument to switch between ex: EDT/EST but not the -4->-5 corresponding switch. Moment to the rescue? Not so much, I don't think, for UI purposes. I did integration for presenting time values on the page automagically transformed into the selected timezone, which I think is extremely useful for client-only processing of displayed dates when using the chooser.

Persisting the values, without storing in a profile or manually setting cookies yourself, is now supported. In a lot of cases apps still need values stored with user profiles in the case of batch processing / notifications and such, but this will make live UI interaction with date values more seamless.

Unrelated, but also made it more "widget" like considering it has widget in the name! Can be popped up from a dropdown anywhere on the page which will house the current browser time next to the timezone currently used for clarity. Debating a few things such as whether to make the time tick minutes live and hence commits are in without actual 2.0 release. It could have already been popped up, of course, but this automatically puts in useful information into the button and a nice look provided in the demo/css OOTB.

So I'm ready to move on to 2.1, 2.2, and so forth and will probably get more inline with what you were suggesting, I do dig moment.js but the goal of this project was originally just a very clean UI. Keep the issues rolling in I have fun working on this.

Wow thanks for the detailed dive. We ended up mitigating our time zone issue by other means but I'll still evaluate your solution proposed with colleagues at work. Drupal (one of the main tools at work) still needs a great time zone picker so I will suggest your version to them; I think it would be a very good fit!
