Certainly, go for it!

The main goal is to be a simple and understandable project to infer spdx identifier from common license texts. There are other projects worth linking to (like scancode-toolkit) that do a better job finding licenses more places, but necessarily is much slower and produces more complex output.

The secondary goal is to not be afraid to say "I don't know" and rely on the human to figure it out. For sufficiently modified licenses, or concatenated licenses, it returns None on purpose. I just filed #4 which is the only major improvement I have planned.

Great! I looked at scancode as well, but those kind of tools are far too big/complex to integrate in our dfetch tool. I did some experiments with your repo and it worked easy, quick and good enough. I also tried spdx-lookup, but this is archived.

I'll create a PR with some typing/doc updates sometime soon.
