Replace third-party deploy action

Right now we are using peaceiris/actions-gh-pages@4f9cc6602d3f66b9c108549d475ec49e8ef4d45e to automatically deploy the main branch to the gh-pages branch upon a new commit to main. Ideally we can move away from using this third party action and perform this action ourselves.
