CherryPy high GPU usage

CherryPy might be a lightweight HTTP server (according to the README), but it uses tons of energy in Firefox. My laptop heats up significantly, fans spin up, battery drains enormously.

Looking at Activity Monitor in MacOS, I see it's specifically "Firefox GPU Helper" that is sucking all the energy.
I have tried disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox, but then the site stutters.

Can anything be done to reduce the energy usage of the web interface?

Are you using the standard pyMC_Repeater UI or the Console version?

The standard UI I guess.
Versions mentioned on the page are:

Does this issue happen in all pages or just the statistics page?

Some tests I did:

Firefox GPU helper GPU usage while having the following page as active Firefox tab:
Dashboard: 94%
Statistics: 93%
System stats: 91%
Neighbors: 88%

Configuration: 46%
Logs: 45%

Random youtube video playing: 15%

FYI, this is not an issue in Chrome, but please don't give me reasons to switch back to Chrome 😉
