Title: Hands-On Collaborative Coding

Description
My goal is to build confidence and establish a presence in the tech and game development community by contributing to conferences. I aspire to grow as a speaker and eventually present at larger conferences. I envision this to be hands-on with a few volunteers. Looking at interest here and I will make a final decision - I am pretty nervous :)

Session Format
I propose leading a session that combines slides with a practical hands-on demo. The structure would be as follows:

Presentation (15-20 minutes)

  • Overview of the topic (e.g., collaborative coding strategies, game development workflows).
  • Discussion of tools, strategies, and methodologies (drawing inspiration from techniques like mob programming).
  • Real-world examples from my experience as a Full Stack Engineer and indie game developer.

Interactive Coding Challenge (30-40 minutes)

  • A few volunteers with laptops participate in a live coding challenge.
  • Volunteers will take on various roles (Driver, Navigator, Collaborator) to experience collaborative coding in action.

My Experience
I am a Full Stack Engineer with a passion for solo game development. I have published games on platforms like Itch.io and Steam and am actively engaged in community-building through my Discord server. Here, we host regular game nights, Twitch mob-programming sessions, and collaborative activities such as developing a platformer for a local business.

Why This Session?
This session aligns with the conference's goals of fostering networking, learning, and practical engagement. By showcasing collaborative coding, attendees will:

  • Gain exposure to new tools and workflows.
  • Learn strategies to improve team collaboration and code quality.
  • Build confidence in contributing to team projects.
