App crashes when trying to fetch reports from server

A null pointer exception occurs in src/com/taarifa/android/app/data/HandleXml.java

I also tried to fetch reports using the commit 7cb96f9.
it also fails. Maybe the app can not cope with changes on the server side

Does anybody know how the app communicates with the server, and has an idea where one has to look for the problem?

The null pointer exception occurs in the paragraph starting with line 160 in HandleXml.java.
In the incoming xml the status part is empty, whenever status is set to pending.
