Auto Login not auto logging in

Hi,
I'm trying to get the users to auto login after they complete the registration form... I've simply checked the auto login on the 'Registration' page and also i've enabled anyone can register setting.
Does something else need to be done?

I can add the URL the users are getting to create a password and register looks like this,
/wp-login.php?action=rp&key=lVLSLpcY1SiZm3EfAzXE&login=Test-DRRR

Not sure if that is part of the reason (looks different to what it says it should be in the settings).

Which is called by user_register hook in wp_insert_user

So if you have the setting enabled to auto login, technically it should do that after inserting the user regardless of whether they need to set a PW or not.

Can you test it by making sure the setting is enabled, and then use setting to allow user to set password on registration and see if that works or not

Thanks Myles, the users are actually being created from a zap – they aren’t coming through the registration form. They are getting to the set password page from the new user email. I have that setting enabled – should I include that whole function you shared in my functions.php? Thanks so much! Ahhhh okay so that's why it's not working then, for the auto login to work they have to be using the frontend page to register/create their account, as that is required to set the cookie in their browser and log them in. I would not add any of that code I provided at all it won't do what you're looking for.

I guess my real question is what exactly are you trying to achieve here then? The idea behind the auto login is that after they create their account via the registration page, it logs them in without having to confirm their email or anything else.

Were you looking to have this auto log them into their account AFTER they set their password?
