Prerequisites

  • I verified that this is not a filter list issue. Report any issues with filter lists or broken website functionality in the uAssets issue tracker.
  • This is NOT a YouTube, Facebook or Twitch report. These sites MUST be reported by clicking their respective links.
  • This is not a support issue or a question. For support, questions, or help, visit /r/uBlockOrigin.
  • I performed a cursory search of the issue tracker to avoid opening a duplicate issue.
  • The issue is not present after disabling uBO in the browser.
  • I checked the documentation to understand that the issue I am reporting is not normal behavior.

I tried to reproduce the issue when...

  • uBO is the only extension.
  • uBO uses default lists and settings.
  • using a new, unmodified browser profile.

Description

µBlock Origin starts turned off and turns off a second after attempts to turn it on. No surprise, no blocking happens.

I made a screencast demonstrating this on an empty tab, with some explaining texts added:

Block.Origin.Demo.mp4

µBlock Origin used to work fine up to a couple of days ago. There's a small chance this started with the update from Firefox 128.13 to 140.6.

That said, I just see that here on the issue editing page, the µBlock Origin icon is not greyed out. Clicking on it gives an empty rectangle, though:

A specific URL where the issue occurs.

Same behavior on all websites, even on an empty tab.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a browser tab.

Expected behavior

µBlock Origin starts turned on and stays turned on after attempts to turn it on.

Actual behavior

µBlock Origin turns its self off.
