This PR follows the hackathon task to add COPYRIGHT.md across repositories. I didn’t want to make any licensing decisions without maintainer direction.

Have to check, For well-maintained projects, the licensing terms should be clearly defined and the corresponding LICENSE file should be present in the repository.
Since this explicitly mentions a LICENSE.md, we shouldn’t proceed with merging until we finalize it
