Support for Raspberry Pi 2
Guzunty works with the new Raspberry Pi 2.
Wow! After a hectic week testing our source and cores with every Pi we could lay hands on, we're pleased to announce that we have upstreamed the changes to support Pi 2.
The current master is now suitable for any Raspberry Pi, old or new. If you should find something that does not work, please raise an issue (Exclamation mark in a circle upper right here) and we'll be all over it.
Update: The lcd driver core is tested and working on Pi A+, B+. We have no reason to believe the display core will not work on other older Pi models, testing will be completed on these soon. This work is being tracked under issue #36.
IMPORTANT When testing the LCD display on Pi 2 we noticed some problems which at first we thought had caused one of our test screens to fail. We now know it is still working fine. The conclusions we reached after quite bit of testing and research were:
- The Pi 2 SPI bus cannot be clocked as fast as the earlier models, though it still exceeds its specified performance.
- The Pi 2 seems to be more sensitive to marginal power supplies and voltage drops than other models when a screen is attached.
- The display backlight may be drawing more current than the Pi is specified for. You may want to insert an inline limiting resistor on the adapter board.
Either or both of the first two observations may be specific to our own Pi 2 test model, so your mileage as they say, may vary. One symptom to watch out for is a coloured patch flashing on and off in one corner of the display. This indicates an under-voltage condition and you should look at getting a higher throughput supply if you see it.
Enjoy your Guzunti and Pis of all vintages!
