Cycloidal Gearbox
A cycloidal gearbox for a Nema17 stepper designed using freecad and produced using a 3D printer. It is one of my first FreeCad projects. The gearbox is parametric designed. Dimensions are set in a spreadsheet and can be changed. There are small tolerances so that parts fit when 3D printed. The hole for the stepper axis probably has to be drilled and the hole for the acenter grub screw has to be tapped M4. In this Video you can see the working gearbox.
I redesigned this gearbox gearbox for a stronger output shaft and used it in my rotary table (files and video will follow).
The HypocycloidGearDisk part is used for reducing play in the housing, eccenter and output shaft. Play can be changed by changing the OutputShaftBearingOuterDiameterCorrection, GearMountingPlateBearingOuterDiameterCorrection and OutputGearBearingOuterDiameterCorrection values in the spreadsheet.
During a long test under load the 3D printed eccenter became so hot that it melted. I don't expect it to happen under normal conditions but did replace it by an aluminum part that I made on the lathe.
