Unrelated to #7 (independent).
This is a smaller PR with some minimal fixes to allow some things to be unset and disabled. The commit messages should be self-explanatory.
The only "extra" thing is adding pipenv support, which simply ensures that file versions are locked. Happy to remove that if too opinionated, though might be nice to merge (since this doesn't break anything) and then revisit in next PR :)
