As modern browsers support
document.getElementById, theFetch API,Promisesetc, I don't see jQuery as being needed. I feel it's unnecessary to add hundreds of kBs of data to client-side in order to carry out a few very simple operations that can be done natively by browsers these days. Hence suggesting removing the jQuery dependency.
