Since the control repo is getting its own code, we can offload a lot of the nasty plumbing and directory crawling work to that module, and just interact with the control repo via a (hopefully) concise API. The control repo's API is still very much in flux, but this PR reflects the changes I'm making to keep the presenter working as the control repo changes.
