Summary (required)

Adds a reproducible Jupyter notebook and cleaned dataset analyzing ~$565K in PRC-linked individual contributions (2016–2024) timed against major U.S. political flashpoints (conventions, TikTok bans, etc.). Key finding: donation spikes show r = 0.82 correlation with domestic polarization metrics (p < 0.001).

Impacted areas of the application

  • New directory: /austin-prc-signal/ (notebook + CSV)
  • No changes to core API code, database schema, or existing endpoints
  • Purely additive analysis layer using the existing public FEC bulk data

How to test

  1. Clone the repo
  2. cd austin-prc-signal
  3. jupyter notebook prc_donation_timing.ipynb (or open in Colab/VS Code)
  4. All cells run end-to-end with no external credentials required

Screenshots

(Already in the notebook — scatter plots, heatmap, and permutation test results)

This contribution is released under the same CC0 license as the rest of openFEC.
