Welcome to the lego-wedo-java wiki.

This Wiki documents the use of the lego-wedo-java library. This library allows you to control your LEGO contraptions using a computer and the Java programming language.

Getting Started

Getting started with LEGO WeDo is described here on the lego-wedo-java USB WeDo Wiki.

Terminology

System: a type of hub, for example LEGO WeDo or Vengit SBrick. Each system typically supplies a hub with capabilities that are specific for that system.

Hub: The central connector for LEGO bricks. Each hub has a number of ports for LEGO Power Functions (PF) connections.

Port: A connection point on the hub, typically for a LEGO PF connector. Some functions of the hubs are modeled as specialised bricks, connected on pretend ports for simplicity.

Brick: Typically a LEGO PF brick. Some hubs also provide additional functionality that are not standard LEGO PF bricks. For example, the Vengit SBrick has an internal temperature sensor and a voltage sensor. Such extensions are modeled as bricks, to keep the code concise.
