This should silence a warning about res not being defined for all execution paths.
The forum is dead, not possible to get the birthdays anymore.
This fixes a bunch of warnings. Format strings in the strings database are kept for now, to not mix variable names from the code into the json file.
That way they are always defined, silencing scrutinizer warnings.

Fix pylint and scrutinizer warnings, and remove some duplicate and obsolete code
