I have merged the main branch and remove setup code chunk from showing up in the rendered vignette.

This PR uses only base graphics to visualize benchmark comparisons in the vignette and removes {ggplot2} and {scales} from
Suggests, i.e. resolves #45. The plot could be improved and suggestions are welcome, but the branch as it is passes local checks.
