Research document covering what it would take to implement Google Sign-In authentication with Google Drive backup as a simpler alternative to the current Supabase/PowerSync cloud sync setup. Key findings: - Google Drive's App Data folder provides zero-setup backup for users - Requires com.google.android.gms:play-services-auth + Drive API - Much simpler UX (1-click sign-in vs 15+ setup steps) - Can coexist with existing Supabase/PowerSync for power users - Implementation phases outlined: basic backup, auto-backup, advanced Co-authored-by: wharris <wharris@upscalews.com>
